But wanted to keep it healthy so I threw a couple frozen bananas into the Vitamix along with a couple gobs of peanut butter* and made a peanut butter ice cream.

I wasn't able to finish it so I froze what I didn't eat and saved it for the concoction I made today.

-2 Organic Bananas (one frozen, one not)
-1 Chocolate Raw Revolution Bar
-2 Tablespoons ground flax seeds
-Left over "ice cream" (see above)
-Purified water for consistency

I know this sounds like a lot of bananas. But they are what give the smoothie/shake/ice cream its creamy consistency. Use enough PB to taste and the chocolate bar, and it will taste and feel like an old familiar treat.

If you want a Blizzard consistency:
Blend Bananas, flax seed and left over "ice cream" until smooth. Then add the Raw Revolution bar and very little water. Blend again to chop the bar just enough to keep it a little chunky. This you'll need to eat with a spoon.

If you want a Shake consistency:
Blend everything together at once and add a bit more water.

Note: You don't need to have "Ice Cream" pre-made. You can make it all at once. Just add peanut butter* to the above recipe and an additional frozen banana.

*If peanut butter is an allergy concern, there are lots of other nut butters to have fun with. Try almond butter, cashew butter or macadamia nut butter. They come in both roasted and raw; salted and unsalted. I prefer raw nut butters when I can get them. The healthiest choice for a nut butter is of course organic but also one that contains nothing but the nut itself. Avoid additional ingredients, such as sugar.

Apple Fiber Smoothie

This morning I just threw a few ingredients into the Vitamix to curb the blood sugar dive I started to experience. But if you want to measure, try 1/8 of a cup first and add to taste from there.
**You won't need much water as the apple is mostly water, but a little water helps to blend.

Chocolate Covered Cherry

In light of the winter storm we've got coming our way this weekend in Southeastern Pennsylvania, I've been thinking a lot about Spring so the name of this smoothie reflects that.

Blend together:

-10 oz bag organic frozen Cherries

-2 organic bananas

-1 Raw Revolution Chocolate Bar

-1 teaspoon E3 Renew Me Green Powder

-Handful of Dulse (seaweed) YES! seaweed.

-1/2-1 cup organic Plain Yogurt

-2 teaspoons organic Vanilla Powder

-Organic Spring Mix-Use enough to fill blender container to the top

-Purified Water to desired consistency

This will make plenty for two people. type='html'>
I am here to record and provide smoothie recipes. My favorite meal to prepare is a smoothie. And as the title suggests I am a serious addict of the smoothie.

There are lots of blogs dedicated to smoothies and they fall under categories such as "Green" and "Raw." I have taken many ideas from those categories and have made many raw smoothies and will continue to do so. But I am not an exclusively raw foodie, even though I love to eat lots of raw food. I even like all the novelty packaged raw foods like raw cacao, goji berries, green powders such as E3 Live and so many more.

These raw treats will be included in many of my smoothies and I almost always use greens in my smoothies as well. But I also include yogurt in my smoothies sometimes too. That is the only animal product I use in since I don't drink milk unless I make it from nuts or seeds. In addition I do not recommend soy milk or rice milk.

When I do use yogurt, I use a brand that is taken from cows that are grass fed and never given hormones or anti-biotics. If you can find yogurt made from milk that is from free-range cows, that's even better.

All ingredients I use are organically grown and pesticide free to enhance the health of the smoothie even more. In addition, since most of us are busy, I have found smoothies to be a very quick meal at any time of the day. Be sure to rinse and brush your teeth afterward though. The acid from the fruits can do damage to the enamel on your teeth.

Most recipes have very few ingredients but a few have more than a few. They can be revised as desired. But since there is no cooking involved here, they are all able to be made quickly.

When I first started making smoothies a few years ago, I started with a cheap department store blender and it worked fine. But it wasn't giving me the smooth texture I really desired so I have recently upgraded to a Vitamix 5200 and have reached a new high in smoothie making.

I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do.
